Ion Channels at Night

Thesis cover inspired by my alltime favorite painting The Starry Night. I was looking for a creative cover image, something nice but neither is a snapshot nor requires too much time to make. Using Artrage to get the oil on canvas affect was the perfect solution. It took me, roughly two and half hours to make this painting. I am satisfied with how it turned out. 
This is a simulation box. The big green-black chunk is the ion channel, a cys-loop receptor to be specific. The middle section is the bilayer and the rest are water molecules and ions.
